Harry wakes up with Hagrid and realizes that the previous night wasn’t a dream. They go to London to buy Harry’s school stuff. Harry worries about money, but Hagrid says there’s enough in Gringotts, a bank for wizards run by goblins.

First, they visit the Leaky Cauldron, where everyone knows Harry and is excited to meet him. Then, Hagrid taps a wall, and it opens into Diagon Alley, where Harry will shop for school things. They go to Gringotts, see the money Harry’s parents left him, and Hagrid explains wizard money (Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts). Hagrid gives Harry some money and takes him to another vault, number 713, with a mysterious package inside.

Next, Hagrid takes Harry to buy his school uniform. Harry meets a snobby boy who talks about important wizard families, making Harry doubt if he belongs. But Hagrid reassures him and says there are Muggle-born students too.

They get books and potion ingredients, then go to a wand shop. Mr. Ollivander helps Harry find the right wand, which has phoenix feathers. Ollivander says Voldemort had a similar wand that gave Harry his lightning-bolt scar.
